Family Tour: first day

Arriving in Viterbo in the afternoon.
Meeting with our guide, who will accompany the group throughout the tour.
Visit of the Bomarzo Monster Park.
The Bomarzo Monster Park was designed by architect Pirro Ligorio on the commission of Prince Pier Francesco Orsini, said Vicino, on the death of his wife Giulia Farnese. Entering this place, you are immediately welcomed by the lines engraved under the two Sphinxes. It will then surprise surprise for the sudden appearance of animals and stone figures. It all dates back to the 16th century (1552) era in which an ideal of life developed between the Principesco and the Cortigiano. This forest has inspired many artists of the time, such as Annibal Caro, Bitussi and Cardinal Modruzzo, to express their wonder, they wanted to leave incised in place “epigraphs and verses”.
At the end of the visit, dinner at the selected restaurant.
Transfer to San Martino and accommodation at Hotel Balletti ****.
After the reading dinner dedicated to the book “Il Vampirino di Bomarzo”. The Vampire of Bomarzo is a book by Branca Armido. Set in the park of Bomarzo, this woodland populated by stone monsters, it is said that every night there is a small vampire who whispered the story contained in this book.

Family Tour: second day

Breakfast at the Hotel.
The morning will be dedicated to laboratory work with Saskia Menting on the theme of the Bomarzo Monster Park.
Guided tour to the monumental Duomo cathedral with a visit to the Palazzo dei Papi and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo. The Popes’ Palace was built between 1255 and 1267 and is known for the beautiful Loggia with trilobate arches dominating the square and the Conclave hall. This hall was also home to the first and longest conclave of history that lasted thirty-three months between 1268 and 1271.
Lunch at the selected restaurant or in the halls of the monumental Polo del Colle del Duomo.
In the early afternoon transfer to Civita di Bagnoregio for a visit to the ancient hamlet. The village of Civita di Bagnoregio is situated on a tufaceous hill immersed in the splendid Valle dei Calanchi. It offers an unmatched spectacle to the observer. A tiny center where time seems to have stopped and where you can only walk on foot, through a cemented armored bridge made for the benefit of the few remaining citizens and tourists who visit it from all over the world.
Return to Hotel for dinner.
After the projection of the movie “The Enchanted City” by Miyazaki, a 2001 Japanese animated film, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It tells the story of a 10-year-old girl who lives in a magical and surreal world.
Return to Viterbo.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Family Tour: third day

Transfer to Tarquinia.
Meeting with the guide and visit to the village of Tarquinia and the Necropolis of Monterozzi.
The city of Tarquinia was one of the oldest and most important Etruscan Dodecapoli settlements. The Monterozzi hill, about 6 km long, is home to the main necropolis of the Tuscia area. Extending for about 6 km, it houses more than six thousand tombs, mostly painted.
